Het beeld van Roland uit 1404 staat hier nog steeds en is Unesco-werelderfgoed. Daarachter zie je het Rathaus met de Bremer Stadtmusikanten in brons. Wrijf over de poot van de ezel voor geluk — de lokale traditie waar bijna geen bezoeker omheen komt.
Wirwar van smalle zeventiende-eeuwse huisjes, ooit de armste wijk en nu vol galeries, theehuizen en handgemaakte sieraden. Loop er rond zonder kaart — alles ligt binnen tien minuten van elkaar en je verdwaalt op een fijne manier.
Aan de oever van de Weser liggen bargeschepen die zijn omgebouwd tot restaurants en bars. Bestel een pilsje en kijk hoe de zon ondergaat over het water — in de zomer een van de mooiere plekken in Noord-Duitsland.
Honderd meter expressionistische steeg uit 1920, gebouwd door koffie-magnaat Roselius. Het carillon klinkt drie keer per dag terwijl houten panelen ronddraaien. Klein, maar architectonisch uniek voor heel Duitsland.
Wandel vanaf de Schlachte langs de Weser tot je bij het pontje naar Café Sand komt. Aan de overkant ligt een strandbar tegen de rivier — terras met voeten in het zand, biertje in de hand. Vooral op zomeravonden levendig.
Boerenmarkt elke woensdag en zaterdagochtend. Hier krijg je verse Bremer Klaben (een soort kerstbrood, het hele jaar door), Bratwurst en lokale Fischbrötchen. Cash bij de hand houden — veel kraampjes hebben geen pin.

Travelled May 2026, 4 nights, as a couple. Booked the Bremen package midweek, Beck's brewery tour was included. Everything at our own pace, city was nice and quiet. Good value for midweek dates. Wall between rooms a bit thin. Recommended outside weekends.

Travelled April 2026, 2 nights, girls' trip. Booked the Bremen package as a four, Beck's brewery tour was included. The Schnoor quarter with its narrow lanes really stuck with me. Then Marktplatz with Roland. Coffee in the room was instant. Doing it again next year.

Travelled March 2026, 3 nights, with family. Booked the Bremen family package, the Beck's brewery tour for the two of us was included. For the kids (4 and 7) we had the Bremen Town Musicians statue on the list. Family room with bunks really helped. Parking pricier than expected. We'll be back.

Travelled February 2026, 2 nights, as a couple. Booked the Bremen package with Beck's brewery tour — nice that the tour was already sorted, no tickets to chase. Tour was smooth, tasting afterwards was great. Then through the Schnoor quarter with its narrow lanes. TV remote only half worked. Recommended for a sorted city + brewery break.
