Hoofdstad van Europa, vier officiële talen, en de beste frieten van het continent. Drie uur rijden vanaf Utrecht, twee uur vanaf Antwerpen, en in zekere zin volwassener dan Brugge of Gent.
De negen bollen, gebouwd voor de wereldtentoonstelling van 1958, staan nog steeds. Drie van de zes openliggende bollen zijn ingericht als museum, met retro-design van Vespa tot Tupperware. Midweeks merkbaar rustiger dan in het weekend.
In de Rue de l'Étuve. Niet de beste chocolade van Brussel, maar wel het meest complete verhaal van boon tot truffel. Reken op een paar uur. Daarna voor de échte smaak doorlopen naar Pierre Marcolini drie straten verderop.
Sinds 1847 de oudste overdekte winkelpassage van Europa, eerder dan Milaan. Glaskoepel, marmer, kledingmakers met luxe-jaszaken. Loop er in een kwartier doorheen of duik bij een chocolatier naar binnen voor een macaron met sherry.
Wijk vol chocolatiers (Wittamer, Marcolini, Neuhaus binnen Ă©Ă©n straat), antiquairs en cafeetjes. Op zaterdag en zondagochtend is er een levendige antiek- en boekenmarkt. Sfeervol terras voor een koffie tussen het slenteren door.

Travelled in May 2026, 4 nights, couple. Started the Brussels package on a Tuesday, four quiet days out and about. Everything sorted in advance through Favotrip. Parking pricier than expected. Midweek value was genuinely good. Recommended if you want to travel away from the crowds.
Three girlfriends · 2 nights
Travelled in April 2026, 2 nights, girls' trip. Four of us off to Brussels, package via Favotrip — hotel and train in one booking. Manneken Pis stuck with us, Atomium for the skyline photo. TV remote was half-working. We'll be back next year.

Travelled in March 2026, 3 nights, family. Booked the Brussels package for the family (11 and 14). Family room with bunk bed really helped. Grand Place quiet in the morning went down well, Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert for a wander. Mattress creaked. Nice having everything in one Favotrip booking. We'll definitely be back.

Travelled in February 2026, 2 nights, couple. Booked the Brussels package via Favotrip — hotel and transport in one go. Grand Place still quiet in the early morning was the highlight, then Manneken Pis. Window let in street noise. Recommended if you want a city trip wrapped up in one booking.

Op de Place Royale. Drie verdiepingen met de grootste Magritte-collectie ter wereld, inclusief brieven en filmpjes uit zijn atelier. Reken op een paar uur. Daarna lunchen in Brasserie Horta — art-nouveau-gebouw in dezelfde straat.
Aan het Beenhouwersstraatje, recordhouder met 2.500 bieren op de kaart. Een kennismakingsbordje van vier glazen geeft je een mooie dwarsdoorsnede. Druk, niet stil, maar onmogelijk te imiteren. Het plein eromheen vol kroegen voor de afterparty.
