Het centrale plein met het 83 meter hoge Belfort. De 366 treden naar boven zijn pittig, maar het uitzicht over de oranje daken is het waard. Aan de voet van de toren zit de toerist info voor wie nog vragen heeft.
Loop vanaf het Begijnhof langs het Minnewater richting het centrum. Die wandeling van twintig minuten laat je de mooiste plekken zien zonder bootje. In het Minnewaterpark zwemmen wilde zwanen vrij rond.
Lokaal favoriet in een zijstraatje van de Markt. Vraag om bicky burger saus erbij of stoofvleessaus voor de echte ervaring. Geen menukaart, gewoon wijzen wat je wil. Cash betalen werkt het soepelst.
Chocolatier Dominique Persoone heeft hier zijn lab. De wasabi-pralines en de bacon-truffel zijn niet voor iedereen, maar de gewone collectie is wat ons betreft de beste van de stad. Rond Pasen en kerst is het er drukker.

Travelled May 2026, 3 nights, as a couple. Arrived on a Tuesday, Bruges was wonderfully quiet. The package with the chocolate museum gave us a nice midday anchor. Otherwise we wandered the canals and the Beguinage. TV remote only half-worked — no big deal, we'd rather read here anyway. Good pick for a stress-free city break.

Travelled April 2026, 2 nights, with friends. Booked the Bruges package for the four of us, the chocolate museum was already included — no faff buying tickets at the door. Climbed the Belfry (366 steps, tougher than we thought) and did a boat trip on the Reien. One of the mattresses creaked a bit. Will book again next year.

Travelled March 2026, 3 nights, family. Booked the Bruges package for the four of us, the Choco-Story museum was included. Family room had enough space for the kids (10 and 13). They mainly loved the tasting bit. Afterwards wandered through the Beguinage and the smaller squares. Window let in some street noise, ear plugs helped. Definitely going back.

Travelled February 2026, 2 nights, as a couple. Booked the Bruges package with Choco-Story tickets included — nice not to have to queue or sort anything ourselves. Hotel was close to the Markt, check-in smooth. The museum was bigger than expected, easily an hour and a half inside. Climbed the Belfry afterwards. Lift jolted on stops, otherwise fine.

Klein museum met Vlaamse Primitieven van Jan van Eyck, Hans Memling en Hieronymus Bosch. In anderhalf uur ben je rond. Combineer met het Sint-Janshospitaal aan de overkant voor een complete middag stadse kunst.
Pure bierkroeg sinds 1983, geen toeristenmenu. Vraag de uitbater om een tasting van drie regionale bieren — dan krijg je er ook het verhaal bij. Vanaf het einde van de middag open, dinsdag rustdag.
